badminton game after so long

it's another wednesday with an hr lesson. spent the morning with sarah and andy in the library, trying to find some metabolic rxns to add into my map, while they studied for haem quiz. after which, the normal a&p lesson with the hyper Ms Isabel Yee, lunch and finally the badminton game with the e1's guys.

it had been over a yr since we last played tgt. rmb the times b4 O levels and after O levels, we played tgt once or twice a wk. it was realli fun then. tho it's kind of budget, but always enjoyable. with the e1 girls of cus, including simin, valerie and sijie.

it was a short 1 hr session, with 2 courts. very short, and even shorter when we arrived 10 min later. damn sad, n they're planning to go agn some time nxt wk, but shud be quite busy by then, maybe some other day.

those days, we cud nv turn back time. even over dinner, i felt dat i was in another world, so different from theirs. wadever they talked of were sch work, and tv series. i was the onli poly student dere, so i cudnt realli join into their conversation. jus sat dere n kept pretty quiet throughout dinner.

not trying to be emo here, lols. but yea, we're still budds. mahjong-ed tgt during chn new yr, played badminton and stuff. they shud be joining the NS nxt yr, n by then, will see them all fit and muscular, haha, while i'm still in poly looking flabby =X. ok, shall realli train myself by the end of the yr, no more slacking. i dun wan to fail my napfa jus becus of pull ups agn. haha

guys, i noe u all wun be reading my blog, but jus take care and study real hard for ur A levels. u r all smart guys, definitely will be able to be among the top. yea, apart from studying, do take care too. moments like these were rare, enjoy to the fullest. dun mug too hard n forget the ppl around u dat helped u thru ur JC life. even if u shud forget them, mus rmb us! afterall, we spent the last 2 yrs of sec sch life in the same class, almost everyday while trying to help each other out with sch work and assignment and spur each other on.

well, till the nxt badminton game / meeting, tk care budds.

Phlebotomy

yes~! finally i'd done my first ever phlebotomy, which means drawing blood from veins, also called a venipuncture. thx shirley for volunteering, and encouraging me, cus i noe it's painful. no blood came out in the end, so, more practices needed =X. sarah, u're nxt! haha, dun wry, i'll let u take mine oso.

that's the only highlight for the day. had a test earlier today, nt much of a problem, if i had studied more thoroughly. focused too much on things that were not tested at all. but it's ok, shud be able to get avg marks. spent 3 days b4 the test to study, alone and with sarah and shirley.

will be working for the nxt 2 days frm 6-11, jus to spend my evenings. not earning much these days, but academic performance is more impt =D. altho i do yearn to have a PSP as well, but i shall fix my studies first b4 going for other things. haha.

bye ppl.

And it's you and me, and all other people but I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you - Lifehouse

yea man

it's been so long ... ...

last wk was pretty much enjoyable, tho the days wore me off due to insufficient slp. i dunno y, but sometimes i cant slp well. imagine urself falling aslp onli after lying on the bed for 2 hrs, and wake up every other hr. wad a torture. but yea, still, not bothered =D.

thu had botak jones with johnny, wayne, zr, madeline, janet, fiona and sarah. woohoo, simply love big servings, + quality. rating - 4/5. the onli setback was the lack of bigger tables for bigger grps like us. but, it's value for money. do try them out, ask me for their location. LOLS. this is not the main pt tho.

that was probably the first time in many mths ever since i went out with them for lunch. how cool. i enjoyed their company, and all of a sudden, it's like back to 'those days'. haha. i'd been rejecting them many times alrdy, due to lack of cash n exhaustion. haha.

then fri, we had steamboat at bugis. there were wayne, andy, nich, zr, jr, janet, fiona, shirley n sarah. 2nd steamboat trip with them. how nice =D. n as usual, i was the 'last man standing'. wahaha. the pork (pardon me if u're a muslim), lotus root, corn, FISH BALLS (sarah's ultimate fav, crazy woman), crabs, prawns, meatballs (zr onli ate that) n many many more.

went off to bugis st. for a short walk, to see sarah bought a bag, and shirley going off to zouk to meet his guy. came home, exchanged sms-es with sarah for some time b4 going to bed.

hmm ... more outings! but dat oso means more money. exams are near, so dat means less work. nvm, i still have savings =D. furthermore, these outings shud be getting lesser towards the exams. so ... it's ok! scrimp and save more then. hopefully to get another job, so i can quit thai express. Mt Faber wud be great, if my fren managed to get a place for me. haha.

shopping too, haven bought aniting this GSS. jus 1 wk left, probably i shall go shopping in the evening, to see wad late offers i can get. haha.

i've nth much to add on alrdy. haha

will you be the one?

Live Earth - Concerts to spread the msg of answering calls ... or to IGNORE them?!

the live earth concert had jus ended over the wkend frm 7/7/07 to 8/7/07. the 24-hr show was proposed by ex-vice-president Al Gore in response to the various global issues on pollutions, global warming and conserving resources. the concerts attracted millions worldwide, featuring high-end artistes such as The Police, Linkin Park and Madonna.

however, despite the many reports on the impact the concerts had on ppl, many shud be wondering jus how much resources were wasted on this?

first fact - the 24-hr show attracted many audiences to watch it live at the venues. 24 hours ... it is almost impossible to sae that these grp of audiences stayed throughout the course without eating and producing trash. fact is, in Sydney, 2 cubic tonnes of rubbish was produced after the concert itself, by a mere 45,000 crowd. this might not be a huge problem as most were sent for recycling, but to clean up the mess was a chore.

second fact - altho i cudnt get the statistics, imagine the amount of electricity wasted to hold these concerts. the lightings, the mics, the guitars etc. so much for short msges in between the shows to encourage us to use energy saving light bulbs and motion detectors. how much electricity was generated and used? hard to tell. the scarier thing was, the concerts lasted for 24 hrs.

third fact - filming of all the short films presented by various movie stars and artistes. again on the issue of energy. NGs were inevitable, and the equipment used require large amount of energy as well. ok, so much for energy conservation.

fourth fact - since the concerts were supposed to reach out to more than 2 billion ppl, imagine that number of ppl staying at home, watching the TV having their air-con switched on for 24hrs. even not throughout the show, sae for jus 12-20 hrs. how much energy had been wasted? the CFCs generated by old air-cons, the greenhouse gases. wasting the electricity generated frm fuel. ah, so much.

u might have thought of more facts than i do, and the list goes on. so, jus how many of us realise the importance of saving the earth? yea, it's the future, and probably wun hv any effect on us. but wud u wan ur descendants to live w/o being able to see the clear blue sky and vast greenlands?

i guess this movement had somewhat been a failure. ppl showed up in concerts, watched them throughout the day to sae, "hey, i'm supporting this green movement". but true enough, most attended jus to watch their idols perform, n enjoy jus another day out with frens, and new frens.

so finally, since so much energy and resources were wasted, are we supposed to use less air-con, keep our bottles, watch less TV, read our books in the moonlight etc. as efforts to save the earth? or ... are they telling us, oh, it's ok to waste so much once in a while? haha. wad irony.

i personally support green movements in hopes to ask ppl to conserve, reduce, reuse and recycle. tho not a hyper active member to tell ppl to conserve, i do the least i can to make this world a better place such as reusing bottles and containers, simply switch off electrical appliances when not needed and reduce the usage of plastic bags. these little things do help, accumulatively. maybe this wun do much to ask u to conserve, but perhaps, for conservation-conscious ppl, i hope u all realise how the concerts had created a negative impact on the environment.

The Clique

clique - a group of friends that sit together in a lesson, have lunch during breaks n out for dinner after sch. the clique can be big, or small, n there's always a long story behind how each clique was formed. ours, haha, extraordinary.

our clique. on the orientation day to flag day, i came to noe 4 ppl. orientation day itself, i met lawrence, i was pretty amazed when he told me he finished his NS, n the way he presented himself was filled with confidence. haha. tho he's not in the clique, he was one great guy, an organized organizer and a creative planner. we exchanged phone numbers, and said if possible, meet during flag day, but i was left all alone. LOLS.

flag day - cool, i was at raffles place all alone, until almost time, i went back, being the last. ZR and sabrina helped me to count the money, with ms adeline koh dere targetting me. i first tot ZR and Sab being yr 2s!! haha. yea, and as i was being targetted, i became the class treasurer.

being the class treasurer, i reluctantly passed around my notebook to collect my classmates' numbers and email adds. haha. n frm then on, the first clique was formed including me, wayne, lawrence, sabrina and fiona. lawrence and i pulled wayne along during CCA drive, and dere he was in the clique.

as time passed by, i met this cocky guy (on first impression) who showed us some magic tricks. haha, was stunned by his tricks, and he was soon part of the clique. that was none other than nich. lols. tgt with him was JR.

roughly in 5-6 wks time, this current clique was more or less formed. first was wayne, fiona and i. chatted with janet quite a number of times online, n slowly, i was integrated into the clique. other factors being us having lunch tgt during breaks. i still rmbed how shirley kept asking me y was i so scared of her. n my reply to her was, "haha, i'm jus quiet". u see, i'm a shy guy. lols.

then, wayne was assigned the RWP grp with shithead wai ling and shirley. once i waited for them for dinner, n shirley for no reason called me 'xiang gong'. haha, soon i accepted her crap and started addressing her back. so this was 1 of the reasons y i'm in the clique too.

n dere, it became more obvious after our very first chalet. many happening stuff, many lunch outs, many presents, n of cus these much memories.

till now, the clique is slowly fading. very little of us left. probably due to the various frictions between some of them, but i believe time will heal the wounds. through woes, we knew each other much better; through delightful moments, we left memories worth remembering. i appreciate the gives and takes, the care and advice n above all, company. like i'd mentioned before, w/o them, my poly life wud perhaps be a walk in the desert - dry, hot, n nth to see.

dun cry ppl, lols. i'm not exactly a person dat can write with emotions and interesting phrases. but, at the very least, that is how i feel. i tot i shud write it down, if i shud forget as i get older. haha, inspired by janet tho, if not, i wudnt have had this idea to 'look back'. with this, i can look back at it more often when i get older, and refresh the happy times i had. hopefully, this clique can remain as it is till we graduate if not further. even if we shud move on with our own lives, maybe some of us pursueing their Ph.D., others involving in trades not related to wad we're studying ... u will not be forgotten.

finally, i apologise for all the MIA-ing during recent outings and lunches. i'm still with u all, tho not physically. haha. as such, let's work hard tgt and do our very best, academically and of cus, creating more of such moments.

*P.S. Ms Isabel Yee's wedding dinner. hope most of u all can make it. interested parties pls inform shirley. haha.
