class chalet 2 - 07/08

hello everybody. here i am to fulfill the promise of updating after the chalet.

i've actually come back last night, 'cause so many people left, and i had no idea what to do already as there was probably nobody to entertain me for the night. this chalet was alright and fun as usual, but this time round, the mahjong 'table' was occupied almost all the time. when i left, people were still shuffling the tiles, shouting PONGs n CHIs n HUUs!!! haha. how exciting, so i left my mahjong set with them, didn't want to spoil their mood.

basically, that was what i did, among other things like playing pool with wayne, swimming with wayne, justin, guojie and jun rong, and i guess nothing else already.

some lecturers came, and went off after a short while. ronald played mahjong with us, shirlena brought her family to the chalet for the bbq, and salome with her husband for the bbq as well. the bbq food this time round was better with more varieties. love it, though i didn't eat as much as before.

oh well, haha. this is not an interesting entry; it's just a record of what happened over the last 2-3 days, so that if i happen to forget it, at least when i flash back and look at all my posts, i'll get reminded.

e-learning week. i briefly browsed through the stuff we need to do, and there are really nothing much. guess by tomorrow, i should be able to complete them.

i'm still looking ... for that thing i really need ...

after work

after work today ... SHIREEN'S HOUSE INVASION!!!

the whole fort on duty today - IC alvin, adelene, faiz, astra, terence, shannon and me went down to shireen's place for her open house + hari raya celebration. oh man, what fun time we had over at her place, and their family cooked really good food.

we arrived with a blast, haha, as usual, the loud us. and we're directed to a small square table, and we started feasting on the briyani, bee hoon, mutton curry etc. ate some of their home-made pastries too - just too good man. haha.

crapped and watched some scary movie, until 2230 before proceeding to stanley's place to collect FM 08!!! have been waiting for it to be released, and finally!!! haha.

thank you shireen for the invitation!!!

liverpool is leading 1-0 arsenal now.

check in to chalet in less than 15 hours time. meeting wai ling, wayne, joan and GM in less than 12 hours time. well ... busy busy busy.

well then, update again when i return. haha.

hehe

But the struggles make you stronger ...
And the changes make you wiser ...
And happiness has its own way of taking its sweet time.

i quoted this from ms shalini's (aka shan ling) blog. just wanted to share with more people.

probably in life, it's really difficult to take things one at a time. they come too quickly, and unknowingly, they would have overcome you like never before. but these are things that will make you stronger, bigger and greater a person when you pass the hurdles and make it to the finish line. right now, i'm in the race, not 110m hurdles, but many of them, and perhaps 1km, 100km, 100,000km.

enough of this =D. will be having, once again, our class chalet. 4th one already, and maybe this will just be another chalet. nonetheless, i'm looking forward to it, 'cause i believe it'll still be as fun. i'm so gonna drown myself this time, so i'm in need of a drinking companion. haha.

tomorrow will be my 35th day without a single day rest from work and studies. guess i'm pretty worn out, although i still sleep earlier than anyone else (10pm sharp sharp. haha).

randoms - i want to live my dream.

working again tomorrow, so i shall end this. maybe i'll add 1 more tomorrow night, or after the chalet. will see how it goes.

haha.

Constipated

i'm not going to create a huge hu-ha over my 100th post ... guess no one would probably give a damn anyway. so, i shall start on how exactly i become constipated, when my bowel system had been so efficient the past week that i fed the toilet for at least twice a day.

it all happened yesterday, when my IC at fort gave me some wild berries to try. after biting off the whole thing, he told me it's mildly venomous, that will give me numb lips and constipation for the next few days. to hell with the numb lips, 'cause i was fine till now. but i guess constipation did kick in - i haven't been visiting the toilet ever since!

so i had pretty light meals today, except for my dinner (a full packet of pineapple fried rice. i guess the cook forgot that he's now working in a kitchen that cooks for HUMANS and not for PIGS). had just a bowl of noodles in the morning, and 3 pieces of wholemeal bread with salmon mayo for lunch. now i'm trying to hypnotize my intestines to start peristalsis and push all those shit out!

there, my constipation story ...

i shall continue with another matter which is the discrimination of indians in singapore. haha, it will be short i promise. and do take note that i mean no offense to any indians that read this.

i guess many of us have at least heard of a joke that concerns indians. things like the darlie toothpaste and not seeing them at night if they were to wear black etc etc. also, many people actually commented that indians are the fussy-est race on earth, demanding on this and that, that and this. what else, they're always inconsiderate and pushing around in the train or bus.

encountered this scenario while waiting for my enormous packet of fried rice - the woman taking orders kept that indian lady waiting for 5 minutes before taking her orders. i believe she was not exactly that busy, as she was just shuffling through the buckets of coins and notes to make sure they're in check. that poor indian lady stood there and waited without even complaining. ok, maybe they were really busy, but when they took orders from a chinese, they seemed to be more willing to do so than serving an indian. please send these bunch of people to some basic service courses - their attitude is really bad.

i'm not trying to say that my service standard is among the best that i can criticize them, but it's really intolerable. imagine yourself going to india, wanting to have a simple meal of roti prata, but the chef just couldn't feel your presence and continue with his amazing dough-tossing skills. ok, let's not talk about india. how about finding yourself in the states trying to order a hamburger, but they just ignore you? then you'll start saying things like man, the service quality in the states is BAD! it takes just one flaw to spoil the whole painting.

in fact, i've met many indians and bangladeshi at fort siloso since my first day at work there. it's shocking to me as well to meet very nice people of those nationalities. they're very much friendlier, and in fact more approachable to the snobbish locals that tried to outwit and look down on us by making unnecessary comments. although i must admit i do have difficulties understanding them with their accent, they are really nice people. when i exchanged short conversations with them, i felt relaxed as they don't present any hostility towards us. yet, many of us still harbour bad impressions of them, i don't know why.

at times they do get on my nerves, but i believe it's not just them that irritate people. we simply forget about all the pushing and squeezing of a chinese in a congested train, and make so much noise when we're in a less crowded train but there're more indians in there. haha.

so just why are indians discriminated? is it because the chinese and malays made up the majority of the population in singapore? are we really living together harmoniously? doubts.

those are just my thoughts, haha. and i'm still constipating. will Salmonella spp. help?! bye bye

99 ... ... and counting

no, it's not 99 days to my birthday. no, it's not 99 seconds to complete 2.4km. and definitely not going to the toilet 99 times today due to diarrhoea ...

it's the 99th entry of this highly-frequented blog!!!

ok, i'm just trying to fill up something in this post.

anyway, i've passed my On-the-Job Training at Fort Siloso last sunday!!! so now, i'm officially a Fortian. haha. not MARTIAN, but FORtian. and of course, i've gotten my staff pass ... and now i can visit the 5 different attractions under The Sentosa Leisure Group for free! and i can finally take the Sentosa Express without having Shireen and Terence (both from Fort) 'smuggling' me in.

i saw nicholas in his Oscar uniform on saturday at Songs of The Sea while walking to beach station after work. tough job man, selling that big bag of popcorn.

3rd week of 2nd semester of acad. year 2007/08 already. 2 more weeks, excluding this, to our e-learning week, and then, we'll have a class DBS/2A/21 & 22 chalet at aranda from 29th-31st OCT!!! people, whoever is reading this, please try your best to keep yourself free on these days free. at least try to go for 1 day. haha. if any of you all are going to play mahjong ... DUN EVER GO AHEAD WITHOUT ME!!!

next up, of course, will be trying to have an outing with Sec 4E1' 2005. i guess this time there won't be that many people like last year already ... if that's the case ... then i will just have an outing with my budds like stanley, eileen n WL. haha. same to you all, people of class 4E1' 2005, if you're reading this, do bring up some ideas on what we can do for the outing =D.

many datasheets to do ... ... will do them soon i guess. haha.

byebye.

dental visit

first venture to a dental clinic outside of school - it wasn't as bad as people made out, in fact, the dentist was so much friendlier than the nurses you visited in your primary school!

ok, maybe that particular dentist was service-orientated, but anyway, it's my first visit in more than 2 years. i felt aches in the tooth i had filling before, so i thought it's time for me to visit the dentist.

had x-ray, some explanation on what happened and prescription of some medication. the dentist said that the pain might be due to the pressure on the nerve endings by the filling, or less probably due to gum infection. so the medication will put off the pain temporarily, for roughly a few months' time.

so ... 2 solutions are available - an extraction or root canal treatment. he doesn't recomment to do an extraction, 'cause the row of teeth might shift. so he recommended me to do a root canal treatment ... ok, i think 'cause that will bring him more money!! but well ... it does make sense - eating will no longer be that enjoyable when a tooth is being extracted, leaving a huge gap.

also other stuff, that's starting work at fort siloso @ sentosa. quite fun i would say, but the weather can be unbearable at times. the working environment is young and full of energetic, so i'm still trying my best to adapt. but i think it shouldn't take long, 'cause they made me feel at home whenever i worked.

nothing else already. 2nd week of school, and assignment and pressure are building up. and i'm having my mahjong craving as usual. lols. people, you know what to do when you have nothing to do in the afternoon =D.

bye bye.
